Forgette - 2

Deputy Mayor and Budget Chief Sheldon Forgette was the guest on this morning’s (Tuesday) Council Capsule.

With Council to hold what could be the final vote on the 2015 budget on Monday – budget talks were the main topics.

Forgette says every member of Council got to bring their ideas on how to improve services and/or reducing the budget. Meantime, with Sudbury just announcing a zero percent budget increase Forgette was asked how North Bay could have accomplished this.

He says ideas were brought forward to lower the increase from 2.21 percent, but they would have cost the city more over the long term.

Forgette is in his first term as a member of City Council and reflected on the entire budget process up to this point.

He says it was a extensive process with lots of input from councillors – and the public. He was asked if there were concerns over inaccurate information getting to the public during presentations.

Overall Forgette says he’s proud of the work council and staff have put into this budget. Council will vote on a 2.21 percent budget increase next Monday.
