One of the 20 provincial Faces of Change awards has been won locally.

North Bay Regional Health Centre’s Patient and Family Partnered Care Coordinator Tamara Dube-Clarke and the Chirgwin Family were honoured Monday night in Toronto.

The award was created to honour those who have inspired positive change in Ontario’s health care system.

Specifically, they were recognized for making the health care system more patient-focused.

Kathy Chirgwin‘s husband Andy had Alzheimer’s disease and was a patient at the hospital for four years.

He passed away in January.

A video, called Andy’s Story (above) was created to introduce his health care providers to the man he was before his Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

The video is used at the North Bay Regional Health Centre and in the broader health care community as a training tool.
