City Council will spend $19-million on Capital Projects this year, including finishing the Pinewood Park Drive sanitary sewer extension project.

This is a project that started in the summer of 2013, and after some delays, it was terminated between the city and the construction group this past September.

Mayor Al McDonald was asked if the tendered bids include a clause on the work actually being finished.

Councillor Derek Shogren says it needs to be finished.

Council has already had some bids come in for the project. Meantime, Chair of Community Services Mark King says another project on this year’s list is the John Street Bridge.

King says he’s heard from residents in that area who say they may not need that bridge after all. Lastly, Budget Chief Sheldon Forgette says road resurfacing is an important one.

Forgette says there are plans for small shops or boutiques to go in that area, if that is the will of council.
