gas metersWe previously told you about Union Gas applying for a price drop when it comes to natural gas rates… and that decrease has been approved by the Ontario Energy Board.

Starting April 1st, Union Gas customers can expected a decrease of between $116 and $168, depending on where they live in Ontario.

The North Bay area is included in the “Northern” rate.  The reduction here for typical residential customers who use 2,200 m³ per year and who purchase gas supply from Union, is $122 annually.

The OEB decision says rates will be adjusted effective April 1, 2015 to reflect the projected changes in gas costs and the prospective recovery of the projected twelve-month balances in the gas supply deferral accounts for the period ending March 31, 2016.

Union’s reference prices will also be adjusted to reflect the projected changes in gas costs and transportation costs.

The resulting bill impacts, on an annual basis, for typical residential customers who use 2,200 m³ per year and who purchase gas supply from Union are set out below.

• Northern – Decrease of $122

• Fort Frances – Decrease of $116

• Northwestern – Decrease of $125

• Eastern – Decrease of $120

• Southern – Decrease of $168
