The Theatre Ontario Festival wrapped up in North Bay on the weekend with the list of winners announced.

The Northumberland Players and their production “Boeing, Boeing” won seven awards including Outstanding Production and Outstanding Visual Presentation.

Gateway Theatre Guild and their production “Curved” won the Adjudicator’s Taboo award for openness in dealing with difficult subjects and picked up numerous Honorable Mentions too.

Outstanding Coordinated Production:
Winner- Northumberland Players (Boeing, Boeing)

Outstanding Technical Achievement:
Honourable Mention: Alexandra Westenlake (33 Variations, Theatre Sarnia) Projection Designer
Winner: John Willcock (The Drowning Girls, The Curtain Club) Master Plumber for “overcoming innumerable obstacles”

Outstanding Performance by a Male:
Winner – Jamie Hunt, Boeing, Boeing (Northumberland Players) for “Embracing the many personalities of Robert”

Adjudicator’s Award – Outstanding Ensemble:
Winner – Tamara Van Bakel, Nicole Wahl and Shelly Meichenbaum The Drowning Girls (The Curtain Club) for “Bringing to life three strong individuals sharing one voyage”

Outstanding Visual Presentation:
Honourable Mention:
Arndt Vonholtzendorff for set design Curved (Gateway Theatre Guild)
Wayne Milliner for set design and Mark Hayward for lighting design The Drowning Girls (The Curtain Club)
Winners: James Finan (set design), Jamie Finan (costume design), Ken and Jody Forsythe (set décor), Joe and Diana Flynn (properties), Mary Smith and Melissa Thornton (make-up and hair) Boeing, Boeing (Northumberland Players) for “The joyful unity of elements”

Outstanding Performance by a Female in a Supporting Role:
Honourable Mention: Johanna McPherson as Chloe, Curved (Gateway Theatre Guild)
Winner: Andrea Hughes Coleman as Gertie, 33 Variations (Theatre Sarnia) for “A blend of heartbreak and wry humour”

Adjudicator’s Award – Cherry on the top for that something special in a curtain call
Winner: Alina Adjemian for choreography, Boeing, Boeing (Northumberland Players)

Outstanding Performance by a Male in a Supporting Role:
Honourable Mention: Darryl Heater as Mike, 33 Variations (Theatre Sarnia)
Winner: David Hoare as Bernard, Boeing, Boeing (Northumberland Players) for “Heart pounding struggles to get out of trouble”

Adjudicator’s Award – Taboo award for openness in dealing with difficult subjects
Winner: Johanna McPherson, Tanya Webb, Joanne Bernier, June Keevil, Stephanie Haines and Patsy McVicar, Curved (Gateway Theatre Guild)

Adjudicator’s Award – Theme and variation award
Winner: Dan Sonier, pianist 33 Variations (Theatre Sarnia) for “A sensitive relationship with characters while bringing the genius of Beethoven to life”

Adjudicator’s Award – The 3 C’s award: Creativity, Commitment and Comedy
Winner: Kristy Bird, Helen Pitt Matthew, Jody Ledgerwood and Anne-Marie Bouthillette Boeing, Boeing (Northumberland Players)
