CANADA POST

The Liberal Government in Ottawa is looking at the future of Canada Post and they’re calling on people to give their take on what the future Canada Post should look like.

Keith Bradford is the President of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers local 576 in North Bay.

He says they have lots of ideas including more banking strategies at post offices.

He says some communities don’t have banks anymore but they have post offices.

He made his comments at council this week and asked the city to get involved by making a presentation on the future of Canada Post which they are going to do.

Councillor George Maroosis was asked what should be in the city presentation and he says home delivery is key.

Bradford says municipalities must make their presentation by next Thursday and private citizens have their say until the end of July.

The government will announce its recommendations next spring.

Meantime, Bradford says they’ve put together a pamphlet on their wish list and they’ll be knocking on doors Saturday letting people know what it is all about.
