Students at Alliance French Immersion Public School in North Bay have been riding their bikes all week, and it all came to head on Friday with a bike rodeo.

Teacher Brigitte Fiorino says all the students in the school took part, learning a number of things.

That includes how to be comfortable on a bike, but also the rules of riding a bike.

Fiorino says the students, from junior kindergarten to grade six, have had all week to learn and they were judged on what they’ve learned through a series of stations set up.

She says there’s the healthy piece too, as they are promoting healthy physical activity by riding bikes.

Fiorino says a number of agencies were involved with bike week activities including the North Bay-Parry Sound District Health Unit, Nipissing University and Discovery Routes.

Three of the students who took part won brand new bikes.
