City Hall (some snow)

The province is undertaking a review of conservation authorities for the first time in two decades.

This week, city council passed a motion calling on ca’s to have the means, capacity and resources to be proactive in integrated watershed management.

The motion passed calls on the province to consider several ideas including allowing conservation authorities to work at an inter ministerial table rather than just one ministry.

City Councillor Chris Mayne who sits on the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority board as a city rep was asked about one issue that is key locally.

He says it is water management in light of the importance of protecting the water quality of Trout Lake.

The motion that council adopted this week will be also be presented for approval at other area municipalities that are within the local ca’s jurisdiction.
