NEW opp police

The Powassan Detachment of the OPP say they’ve received what they call an alarming number of calls recently about break and enters, thefts and mischief incidents involving insecure homes, vehicles and other outbuildings.

Police recommend you lock your vehicle at all times and ensure your valuables aren’t inside your vehicle or at least are hidden from plain view.

Police say ensure your shed or home is locked so no one can enter it while you’re away even if it’s only for a few minutes.

Police say they are investigating several crimes and will lay charges when they solve them.

The most recent crime was early Tuesday morning when someone broke into a residence in Powassan between 2 and 6 am.

Police say someone stole a wood chipper with a 20 ton hydraulic piston.

Police say the wood chipper is red and the piston is grey.
