North Bay Food Bank

Contributions by the North Bay and District Labour Council are benefiting the North Bay Food Bank.

In August, the council issued a challenge to union locals to support the North Bay Food Bank through the purchase of monthly $300 hampers for a 12 month period.

To date the council says 11 families have benefited.

Food Bank manager Amber Livingstone says the council has been impacted by what some workers are going through, in efforts to make ends meet.

Meantime, the food bank hopes to raise funds at the Blue Jean Ball which is returning this year.

Chair of the Food Bank Board Katharine Strang says the event will be Friday night at the Davedi Club.

Tickets are 50 Dollars and available at U Need A Cab, the food bank and Burrows Country Store and Garden Centre.

She says it promises to be a fun night with a dinner and dance featuring gourmet burgers, a poutine bar and music by Gravitas.

There are several raffle items, as well, including Leafs tickets, Dinner for 4 from Orchard’s Fresh Food Market, Dinner for 6 at 100 Elements, a Canadian Tire snow removal package and 2 tickets to see superstar Adele.
