Thursday was awards night at the North Bay Granite Curling Club.

The club and its president both received awards from the Northern Ontario Curling Association.

General Manager Bobby Ray says president Mark Brown received an honourary lifetime membership into the association.

Ray says Brown has done just about everything at the club and is certainly deserving of the recognition.

The “Club Recognition Award” went to the Granite Club because it has proven it can host big time events but it was also recognized for implementing a concrete business approach to operations, developing new leagues and providing opportunities to meet current trends and demands.

The club is also behind the local effort to have North Bay host the 2018 World Women’s Curling Championship.
