There’s been a meeting between The Children’s Aid Society of Nipissing and Parry Sound and CUPE Local 2049 which represents locked out workers.

This doesn’t mean discussions to end the dispute which started on December 23rd have resumed.

It was held to go over some of the key issues.

Interim president of the CAS board John Stopper says the meeting was held in the spirit of respected and constructive dialogue that will open the door to future contract negotiations.

Meantime, CUPE Local 2049 president Debbie Hill  says they requested the meeting to give the clearest possible picture of the issues in the lockout and they are no closer to a deal.

She says they did leave behind documentation of issues for CAS board members to consider.

The lockout will be 12 weeks old as of tomorrow and no talks are scheduled.

CAS executive director Gisele Hebert says the meeting built a foundation for future talks.
