Four local schools are taking part in the Regional Sears Drama Festival tonight (Thursday) through Saturday at St Joseph-Scollard Hall.

They include Almaguin with two productions, along with SJSH, West Ferris and Widdifield.

Almaguin Grade 11 student Serena Palangio says they’ll be joined by schools in Englehart, Kirkland Lake, Temiskaming Shores and Timmins.

“There are 9 shows registered to perform at the festival, once again all of the shows are very, very diverse in content, there’s something for everyone,” she says.

Palangio says two of the shows will receive Outstanding Production Awards and advance to the provincial festival.

“There’s also smaller awards of merit and awards of excellence for individual actors, technicians, ensembles,” she added.

Shows begin at 7 o’clock tonight and tomorrow and 6 o’clock on Saturday.

Tickets are $10 and are available at the door.

Admission for Children 12 and under is free.
