Nipissing University has named a new provost and vice-president academic and research.

Dr. Arja Vainio-Mattila will replace Dr. Harley d’Entremont who is retiring after serving a 5 year term.

Nipissing President Dr. Mike Degagne says Dr. Vainio-Mattila brings a wealth of experience and a passionate interest in strategic development of higher education that will serve the university and the community well.

She is currently at Cape Breton University and will begin her new post next month.

Dr. Vainio-Mattila says she is excited about coming to Nipissing and the university’s excellent reputation for student satisfaction is a major reason.
