The North Bay Battalion will try and end their four game losing streak tonight (Thursday) against the number four team in the country.

The Troops host the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds at 7 pm at Memorial Gardens.

This is the third of four meetings between the two clubs with the Greyhounds winning the first one in overtime and the second by a 3-1 count, including an empty net goal.

Coach Stan Butler says his team has played well in both games, but they are the types of games they haven’t been winning.

“For the most part I think our guys have played pretty decent this year. We’ve got to find a way to get results to equal the way we play,” he says.

Butler’s frustrated by his teams performance of late.

He says the coaches point out things in practice and on video to show the players what they’re doing wrong, yet they’re not seeing the adjustments in games that the players need to make to be successful.

“Sometimes as a coach you wonder how many times can somebody can get hit over the head before they figure out how it’s going to work,” he adds.

Off the ice, injured goalie Christian Propp is still a couple of weeks away from returning to the lineup and Butler doesn’t anticipate making a lot of trades.

He says he needs stronger performances from the teams top draft picks from the last two season, Adam McMaster and Brandon Coe, who have three goals between them this season.

Catch tonight’s game on Country 600 CKAT starting at 6:55 pm.

The Battalion have a busy weekend with a road game versus Niagara tomorrow and a game in Sudbury on Sunday afternoon.

In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos scored a 6-3 win over French River last night (Wednesday).

Newly acquired forward Nicolas Case scored the game winning goal.

Powassan has won three straight and is home to Timmins tomorrow night.

Meantime, Voodoos’ forward Ryan Theriault has been named an NOJHL star of the week.

He’s on a seven game point-scoring streak, having scored a goal and an assist in four of his last five games.

Theriault picked up an assist in last night’s win.
