North Bay’s modest 2-game winning streak is over after the Battalion lost 3-2 to Barrie yesterday (Sunday).

Despite the Colts playing their third game in three days, the Troops couldn’t get going.

Head coach Stan Butler (pictured) says he hasn’t been this disappointed in his team’s performance all season.

“The lack of urgency from some of our players, not only for our team, but for where their careers may go someday down the road,” he says.

Butler says the team needs to find inner motivation to get back in the playoff picture.

“We’ve dug ourselves a deep hole here and we’re trying to get back into it. We know we’re going a real tough road trip and we just come out there and we lay an egg,” he says.

Kyle Potts and Brad Chenier scored for North Bay while Julian Sime picked up the loss in net.

The Troops kick off a 3-game road trip in Windsor on Thursday with stops in Sarnia and London, as well.

In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos won two out of three games on the weekend including a 5-2 victory yesterday in Timmins.

The Voodoos lost 5-4 in double overtime Saturday in Cochrane after starting the weekend with an 8-3 win in Hearst on Friday.

The North Bay AAA Minor Midget Trappers won all three games they played on the weekend, including two wins over the Sault.

The Trapppers beat the Major Midget Greyhounds 4-2 yesterday after a 7-2 win on Saturday.

On Friday, North Bay defeated the Sudbury-Nickel City Wolves 5-0.

In OUA women’s hockey the Nipissing Lakers won their third straight game, 4-2 over York on Saturday.

The Nipissing men lost 2-1 to Brock on Friday then lost 8-4 in Guelph on Saturday.

In OUA basketball, both Nipissing teams split their weekend games.

The men lost to Algoma on Friday, then defeated Guelph on Saturday.

The Nipissing women, meantime, won their game against Algoma but lost to Guelph.

And in volleyball, both Nipissing teams wrapped up the pre-Christmas portion of the schedule with wins over Trent on Saturday.
