A 49 year old man from the Eganville area has been charged by North Bay OPP after a collision on the bypass near Cassells Street on Friday.

Mattawa OPP say they’ve been contacted about people being defrauded out of $900.

Credit card and bank information was provided to the suspects.

Police say money was deposited into the complainants bank account from their own credit card.

The complainants were told the suspects were from a local bank and were conducting an investigation into fraud at the Mattawa branch and were asked to withdraw some of the money and transfer it to a bank in Thailand.

Police say the best bet is to contact your bank directly.

They add a bank will never work secretly and will always give out a phone number where you can contact them with any questions.

Week two of the Festive RIDE campaign is underway with North Bay OPP conducting 74 checks so far, with numerous charges filed.

A bag of marijuana was found by officers with a 25 year old East Ferris man charged with drug possession and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

And OPP are reporting their two recent “Stuff-A-Cruiser” events were successful.

After an event in Powassan Friday night, an OPP pick-up truck was about half full when officers donated the items to the Powassan Food Bank.

In Mattawa the next day, the entire pick-up was filled, including the back seat.

Police say the local Foodland made up and sold discounted grab bags before the event.

796 pounds of food was donated along with $140.

The Mattawa Scotiabank branch also agreed to match one dollar for each pound donated.
