A traffic complaint to Powassan OPP on Sunday afternoon has led to charges for five people from southern Ontario.

Police were contacted about a vehicle driving dangerously on Hwy 11.

Police say the vehicle, which was stolen out of Toronto, was travelling at almost twice the posted speed limit of 100 km/h.

After failing to stop for police, the vehicle was located on Highway 17, on it’s roof.

Two people were located quickly while the canine unit assisted in finding the others.

All five were were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

They’re charged with possession of property obtained by crime. One 34 year old faces eight charges, including flight from police, dangerous operation of a vehicle and driving while disqualified.

The North Bay Detachment was busy on the weekend too investigating 10 collisions.

Overall, 30 charges were laid for offenses including impaired driving, break and enter and fraud and 50 tickets were issued for traffic violations.

Of note: a Mattawa man is facing multiple charges after an officer detected an odour of suspected marijuana in his vehicle.

The charges include possession of property obtained by crime, possession of cannabis resin and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

As well, officers charged two different men from Mattawa last Friday with impaired driving and several items were taken from a Lake Nipissing ice hut near Callander.

The list of items grabbed include a stove, a tv, 10 fishing rods, a tackle box and an auger.

There were 3 motor vehicle collisions in the Almaguin Highlands area on the weekend and the one involving a motorized snow vehicle resulted in a fatality.

There were no injuries in the other 2.

Meantime, The Almaguin Highlands Detachment says officers wrote 17 provincial offenses for various occurrences including speeding, driving while under suspension, driving without a validated permit and failing to drive in a marked lane.
