The Top 100 Festival and Events list for 2018 is out and only five from northern Ontario made the list.

North Bay, Sudbury and Sault Ste Marie were shut out.

The list includes three events in Thunder Bay along with the Great Canadian Kayak Challenge and Festival in Timmins and the Kirkland Lake Winter Carnival.

Tourism North Bay’s new director of tourism Steve Dreany says he has to learn more about the list on how events get on it.

“I’d like to reach out to Summer In The Park people and find out what the process is and what the criteria are for being on that list and do anything that we can to ensure we are there in the future,” he says.

Dreany says it’s not just a case of excluding small communities.

“We certainly have lots of things going on, cultural things going on. This is a matter of meeting the criteria so we are on that list,” he says.
