The city has received almost $500,000 from the provincial government to complete an active transportation plan. The city must contribute 20 % of the cost of the plan which works out to $123,000.

Chair of Community Services Councillor Mark King says the idea is to develop a cycle structure system in the city.

“There are a number of projects on the go right now. The biggest one that we’re in the middle of is the West End Link and that’s between Memorial Drive and Gormanville Road,” King says.

He says there have been 2 public meetings on this already with possible routes and a consultant will be coming back to the city to recommend an option.

King says once this all comes together cyclists will be able to ride their bike along a designated route from Callander to the Education Centre.
