a 34 year old Barrie motorist has been charged with driving a motor vehicle on a highway while using a hand held wireless communication device.

Police say Sunday night police were stopped on Highway 17 in North Bay near a vehicle when another vehicle drove right by failing to slow down or move over.

Police say the driver of that vehicle appeared to be recording the police as he drove by.

Police say if there’s an emergency vehicle on the side of the road slow down and move over if it’s safe to do.

Also, by taking a photo or video of a police vehicle on the road you’re endangering yourself or others.

Staff Sgt. Chris Summersby, Commander of the North Bay OPP detachment,  says driving is a privilege and that includes the responsibility of operating a vehicle safely and he recommends motorists pay full attention to their driving.

(drug charges)

A 19 year old North Bay male is facing possession of drug counts after police stopped a vehicle on McKeown Avenue on Saturday afternoon. Police say a small baggie contained small white pills suspected to be suboxone and a search of the vehicle netted other drugs including cocaine.
