The Heart and Stroke Big Bike is back in North Bay, with a special event in Callander tomorrow morning (Wednesday) too.

Thirty-five local groups are riding the red 30-seat tandem bike this week, including four in Callander.

The event is all about promoting the importance of heart health and physical activity and raising funds for life-saving Heart and Stroke research.

Last year nearly $70,000 was raised in North Bay.

They’re set up at the Discovery North Bay Museum square through Friday.

Wednesday morning they’ll be at Centennial Park in Callander.

Officials say heart disease and stroke are two of the top three killers of Canadians.

They say every seven minutes in Canada, someone dies of heart disease or stroke.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation’s mission is to prevent disease, save lives, and promote recovery.

Groups interested in supporting Big Bike in North Bay and Callander are welcome to come to their ride sites and cheer on local teams that are taking part.

General donations may also be made at either host site.
