The group behind one of the proposals for a new arena in the city is outlining its thinking.

Spokesperson Jamie Lowery says their idea is to bring life back to West Ferris.

He told Baytoday their proposal at the North Bay Mall is more than an arena it’s about pulling the community together and that’s why there are other key components like daycare and that’s why the YMCA is playing a key role in the project.

Other elements include a seniors drop in centre and youth employment services.

As for the arena, they’re looking at two designs- one would be two ice pads with a practice facility and the other pad would have 500 seats for attendance.

The other possibility is having a stacked arena with the two rinks on top of each other.

Lowery isn’t having a cost estimate of the project since they’re in a competition with other developers.
