The Pride Rainbow is being added to the decor of Downtown North Bay this afternoon (Sunday).

Two crosswalks are being painted at Main and Fraser.

North Bay Pride Committee Spokesperson Jason Maclennan says co-chair Lucie St John spearheaded the initiative.

“To celebrate Pride and inclusion she went and approached the different City Councillors and the Mayor and the downtown business association and some private donors who helped cover the different permits and insurance,” he says.

Mayor Al McDonald says the city supports the initiative.

We’re a welcoming, inclusive community for everyone and that’s something we can be very proud of as the City of North Bay and as a community,” he says.

Committee officials say the crosswalk painting is the first event in the lead up to this year’s Pride celebrations later this month.
