A few dozen international students from North, South Central and Southwest China are calling Canadore College home for the next three weeks.

They’re attending a summer culture camp, taking part in English as a second language classes and a variety of lifestyle activities, cultural events and tourist attractions.

That includes meeting the mayor, visiting the Farmer’s Market and Board’s Honey Farm and taking a cruise on the Chief Commanda II.

Local residents are also being invited to join the international group for a Canadian Family BBQ on August 2nd, giving the students an opportunity to familiarize themselves with Canadian families.

Those interested are asked to RSVP to Laura Rainer at laura.rainer@canadorecollege.ca no later than July 27.

Officials say Canadore College actively recruits students from more than 15 countries around the world.

In May, they welcomed 150 international summer students in full-time post-secondary programs, which infused an extra $5 million to the local economy.
