Former MP and well known radio personality Bob Wood has detailed some health news.

“I’ve been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. It’s in the early stages. We all have to have something and we aren’t getting out alive so come on down and have a few laughs,” he tells the Dave Dale Story Teller channel.

Wood, who first announced his diagnosis on Your TV’s Life Is with Peter Handley, has put his name behind the Look, Listen and Laugh (because Dementia Sucks) event next month.

It’s a fundraiser for the Alzheimer Society of Sudbury-Manitoulin-North Bay Districts.

Wood says it’s important to talk about Alzheimer’s, and it’s impact, and he’s taking a positive approach to fighting the disease.

“It happened to me and it could happen to you. It could happen to someone in your family at any time. And now I’ve been diagnosed with it at the same year as my dad,” he says.

The event will be held on September 14th at the Grande Event Centre.

Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 or at the door or a $180 for a table of 8.

The event will include music from the J Houston Band and works by local artists will be featured.
