For the first time in three games, the North Bay Battalion have picked up a point in the standings.

They were defeated 4-3 in overtime by the Saginaw Spirit on Thursday night at Memorial Gardens.

After being outscored 15-5 in three games last weekend, Battalion Acting Head Coach Adam Dennis says it was good to see the production to start this weekend, especially from their top line.

“At times I felt they were pressing a little bit to much, but I think for the most part they are generating offence. When they are hard on the fore-check they are a real tough line to play against,” he says.

Kurtis Evans, Justin Brazeau and Brandon Coe scored for the Troops, while Christian Purboo (pictured) made 32 saves in net.

North Bay held a 3-1 lead in the third, but the Spirit ended up tying the game late in the period, before netting the game winner just 49 seconds into overtime.

Overall, Dennis says he felt the Troops played a good game on home ice.

“We had our chances to put them away with some chances in the second and the third, credit to their goalie, but I think our guys would have like to have had another shot at those chances,” he says.

North Bay will look to get back into the win column for the first time in four games when they visit Mississauga tonight.

Broadcast time on Country 600 CKAT is 6:55 pm.
