Mid-December is the usual target opening date for Laurentian Ski Hill, but the forecast late next week could push that back a bit.

Snowmaking is underway and Manager Cam Graham says they have ideal conditions right now.

“We have great weather this week and next week isn’t looking as good, but we’ll see. We may open at some level on the weekend of the 15th, but if not we really want to make sure we’re open the weekend of the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, once the kids are out of school,” he says.

Graham also says sales are up.

“We really won’t know where we are with membership until we get by Christmas, but it’s pretty substantial, so I’m reasonably happy with that part of it, and lessons are doing well too, so the town is definitely supporting the hill,” he says.

Graham says they had a long season last year, so he’s hopeful they get that again this year.

Events this coming season include their Winter Carnival, Cheapskates Snow Wars and Family Snow Cross along with Freestyle Ontario’s Sapling Session in early March.
