Fundraising for the 71st annual Santa Fund is underway.

Co-chair Lachlan McLachlan says they’re looking to all corners of the community for support.

“Our goal this year is $145,000 and it looks like we’re going to help just under 700 families,” he says.

Donations can be dropped off Monday-Friday at the North Bay Nugget or online at santafund.ca.

McLachlan says a big event for them is the Carmine Ricciuti Christmas Special on KiSS 100.5.

“I think in the 25th or 26th year we’ve been doing that and it raises a lot of interest, so if you want to come down and donate, it’s taking place December 21st at Twiggs Downtown,” he says.

The deadline for applications for families in need is Monday, December 10th at the LIPI Office on Main Street.

Packing of the baskets, including a holiday meal and gifts, takes place Saturday, December 22nd at 5:30 pm at Fort Chippewa Barracks, Troy Armoury.

Delivery goes the next day, Sunday, December 23rd at 10 am.
