A Bonfield woman is lacing up the skates and competing overseas in the All-Terrain Skate Cross tour, a series of high-speed downhill races.

Monika Ladouceur says her daughter Michelle Mulder was in Finland last weekend and is in Russia this coming weekend.

“She’s been training, she’s always been a good, strong skater and has always liked the thrill and adrenaline of heights, she’s just excited to go and have the experience, whether she comes in first, second, twentieth, whatever,” she says.

Ladouceur says Michelle was invited back after a ten-year hiatus.

“She dislocated her shoulder in the first race in Quebec City ten years ago,” Ladouceur says. “It took a while for her to get the surgery and then recuperate and she’s just so busy with her family, she coaches hockey, she has three young boys.”

Mulder also owns Nailed It Roofing in North Bay.

She placed 11th in last weekends event in Finland.

Depending on her results should could advance to the Red Bull Crashed Ice event in Boston next month.
