A valiant comeback attempt fell short by the North Bay Battalion, as they drop a 4-2 decision to Windsor.

The Spitfires jumped out to a two goal lead in the first, and got two more in the second on Thursday night, before North Bay got a pair of their own in the third.

Battalion Assistant Coach Adam Dennis says there was a clear difference in the third period, but they need to have that kind of game for all 60 minutes.

“We played physical, we kept things simple with the puck. We put pucks behind their defence. We fore-checked hard and put pucks to the net, and if we do that for 60 minutes we have a chance, but if we don’t then that is the result,” he says.

Dennis says they need to be more consistent throughout the game.

“When you get a team like we had in the first period and a team that we had in the third period, it’s Jekyll and Hyde and it’s something this group has to learn, we have to start games better. Plain and simple,” he says.

Both of the North Bay goals came from Luke Burghardt, his second straight two goal game.

The Troops are in Mississauga tonight. Broadcast time on Country CKAT is 6:55.
