Battalion forward watching the NHL Draft this weekend

Battalion centre Mason Primeau is hoping to hear his named called at the NHL Draft in Vancouver this weekend.

He was ranked 113th among North American skaters in the final NHL Central Scouting rankings this spring.

Primeau tells BayToday the lead-up to draft day is a bit nerve-wracking.

“You look forward to it all your life, you’re not too sure what to expect,” he says. “For me it’s just keep in my routine, continue to work out and skate.”

Primeau says he’ll be watching the draft and hoping for the best.

“I just hope that there’s at least one team that likes my game and likes me enough to take me at some point in the draft. My goal from that point on is to prove them right and earn myself a contract,” he tells BayToday.

Primeau’s father Wayne played with seven NHL teams from 1995 to 2010.

The first round of the draft goes tonight (Friday) on Sportsnet at 8 pm.

Rounds two through seven start at 1 pm tomorrow, again on Sportsnet.

New Jersey has the first overall pick.
