Ribfest is back this weekend at the Voyager.

Geoff Richardson tells BayToday this is the 7th annual event and admission is free.

“Of course if anyone wants to donate anything to Community Living on their way in, that’s how they raise the majority of their funds, we suggest $2, but again it’s totally free,” he says.

There’s plenty of food including three rib trucks, there’s live local and regional entertainment, a kids zone with a climbing wall and bumper boats, vendors and more.

Meantime, get ready for some high speed boat races on the Lake Nipissing waterfront in North Bay on Saturday and Sunday.

The Ontario Power Boat Racing Association event will feature dozens of competitors, with oval track and drag racing.

Event coordinator Bunny Tucker tells BayToday this type of event has never happened here before.

“I think the majority of people have not seen this before,” she says. “They chose this venue here because there’s lots of area for the public to come, it’s free to the public.”

There’s also vintage displays, vendors and kids activities too.
