More than one-million elementary and high school students across Canada took part in a mock federal election ahead of Monday’s general vote, and the outcome was similar to the official one.

The Student Vote also ended with a Liberal minority government, with the Conservatives winning the popular vote.

In Nipissing-Timiskaming, the students voted for Liberal incumbent Anthony Rota, who won re-election in Monday’s actual vote.

The NDP’s Rob Boulet was a close second with the students, followed by the Green Party’s Alex Gomm.

Conservative candidate Jordy Carr was second in the actual election, but fourth with the students.

PPC candidate Mark King was fifth in both.
