North Bay Police have charged a 26 year old Ottawa man with human trafficking after a disturbance call to a motel on Lakeshore Drive on Friday.

Police say they were contacted after an argument between a man and an adult female turned physical.

The investigation revealed she was an escort involved in a working relationship with the man.

He also faces charges of material benefit from human trafficking, assault and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

A quantity of Canadian cash was seized by police.

Victims of human trafficking can be eligible to receive support from the Victim Quick Response Program. (VQRP+). Support can include residential treatment, basic necessities, counselling and safety devices. To apply for VQRP+ contact Victim Services of Nipissing District. A reminder from North bay Police to lock your vehicle.

They say since last Friday, they’ve received reports of thefts from vehicles.

Police say the thefts have occurred in several areas around the city and resulted in people losing spare change, a computer and a wallet as well.

Police say it should be a habit for you to lock up you shed, your car and your house and in most cases a theft is a crime of opportunity where someone has neglected to properly secure their property.

A youth is facing several charges in connection with a break-in on Halloween night at Memorial Gardens.

Police say around 8 pm, two people entered the gardens wearing masks and carrying backpacks.

Police say they started taking items where food and drinks were located.

They were approached by staff and they attempted to flee but one of the workers was assaulted when apprehending one of the suspects.

The 2nd suspect was wearing a dark mask and a dark coat and did get away.

The first suspect has been charged with break, enter with intent to commit, disguise with Intent and assault with a weapon.

A 23 year old Sudbury woman has been charged with theft under $5000, possession of suspected purple fentanyl and possession for the purpose of trafficking in suspected cocaine.

Police say they received a complaint about a theft from a store in the Northgate Shopping Centre on Saturday.

Police say someone left a store without paying for several items and upon arrest police seized packages suspected to contain cocaine and purple fentanyl.
