Council offers up extension to condominium developer on former Kenroc site

We told you in September of last year the city was selling land at the former Kenroc site to pave the way for a 63 unit condominium development.

At that time, the developer, New Vision Park Properties Inc had until this August to meet certain conditions to make the sale official.

That hasn’t happened and last night council agreed to extend the city offer until next April.

Mayor Al McDonald says the Sudbury company is still doing its due diligence on the property.

“They have the capability to build. They have the financing. They’ve done large developments in other centres. They have to do their due diligence. We have our fingers crossed and we hope they move ahead,” McDonald says.

He was asked about this project not going ahead.

“They could walk away from the offer if they can’t satisfy their concerns. If that’s the case we would be more than likely to put it out to RFP but that’ll be council’s decision,” he says.

Under the plan last year, the 63 units would be built in three phases.
