A tough end to the weekend for the North Bay Battalion as they were shutout 8-0 by the Ottawa 67’s on home ice yesterday.

Battalion Head Coach Ryan Oulahen says they need to forget about the game quickly.

“At this point in time in the year, we’re not going to dwell on it,” he says.

Oulahen says the team needs to stay out of the penalty box to be more successful.

“We had a hard time generating a lot, again we got in trouble going to the penalty box way to often and it was a real tough day,” he says.

With six games left in the regular season, the Battalion didn’t lose any ground in the battle for the final playoff spot in the East.

They’re four points back of both Niagara and Kingston who also lost yesterday.

North Bay is back in action Thursday at home to Mississauga.

After a first round bye, the second round playoff schedule is out for the Powassan Voodoos.

They’ll host Cochrane for games one and two on Friday and Saturday before heading north on March 17th and 18th.

The North Bay Youth Volleyball Club Lakers 14 and under Girls “Blue” team won a silver medal this weekend in Sudbury.

They went undefeated in pool play and won their semifinal to advance to the final, where they lost a close match.

Next up, the team is looking forward to provincials at the end of April.
