The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit says they have six confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of 5:30 pm on Monday.

There have been 261 tests overall. Results of 105 are pending while 152 of the tests turned out negative.

One of the cases is spreading within the community.

That person is in self isolation.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jim Chirico says this underscores the need for physical distancing.

He stresses that gatherings of more than five people are now prohibited, except for private households with five or more people, child care centres supporting frontline health care workers and first responders provided the number of persons at each location does not exceed 50 people.

He says funerals are permitted to proceed with up to 10 people at one time.

Important tips are stay home, regularly wash your hands, use alcohol-based sanitizers, don’t touch your face and cover your cough or sneeze.
