Capitol Centre officials say the closure due to COVID-19 has gone on much longer than first expected.

In a video post to social media, Executive Director Katina Connolly also says indications are we’re still a few months away from larger public gatherings being allowed.

“It does mean that we have had to postpone all shows til the end of August, it also means that we missed our original season launch date and we had to cancel our annual golf tournament fundraiser,” she says.

Connolly says the good news is that many of the shows are rescheduling to dates in the new year.

As for the 2020-21 season, she says they expect it will look different, although it still remains to be seen what restrictions or measures will be in place.

“We are condensing the season into our winter and spring months in order to allow for more preparation time for artists, staff, volunteers and all the other critical components of running a show,” Connolly adds.

The season launch is expected in the fall.

In the meantime, the Capitol Centre’s virtual calendar of entertainment continues online.
