A report on intersection improvements at Pinewood Park Drive and Lakeshore is coming to council tonight.

The recommendation is that council approve a contract for the preliminary design.

The report says the pressures of higher traffic volumes and congestion has created the need to evaluate road improvement opportunities at Lakeshore and Pinewood Park, Lakeshore and Booth, and Pinewood Park Drive at Decaire Road, with all being candidates for a roundabout.

It also says proposed road improvements will provide further pedestrian/bicycle networks, with Pinewood Park Drive being identified as a regional cycling route.

Also on the agenda tonight is a recommendation to award a $1.7 millon contract to construct a new ‘cell’ or section to accept trash at the Merrick Landfill.

A report says six of the ten cells are already full and closed, with the 7th cell expected to full within a year.
