Four local charities are teaming up for a fundraiser that also gives golfers the chance to share in a 10-thousand dollar prize purse.

The inaugural North Bay Open will be played at Osprey Links in Callander on Thursday, September 24th.

Hands The Family Help Network, the Canadore Foundation, KidSport North Bay and One Kids Place will all share in the proceeds from the four-person scramble.

A maximum of 18 teams can take part.

This event is going to be fun, community driven, competitive and most importantly, it will help showcase these great charities in our community,” says Katharine Strang, One Kids Place Development Officer.

Officials say Strang is the point person for Sponsorship and Registration.

“Four charities, 18 Teams and a $10,000 prize purse. This charity tournament will be filled with great people, amazing charities and a finish like no other I’m sure,” says Brad Gavan, Director of Foundation, ICAMP, Corporate, Community & Alumni Partnership at Canadore College.

Michelle Cundari from KidSport North Bay can’t wait for the first tee-off, saying, “We couldn’t be more excited to be involved and working together with these incredible community groups”.

YourTV will be covering the event and ‘hot micing’ the golfers.

This will allow YourTV to produce a show around the community golf tournament and the four charities that will be benefiting from the proceeds.

“This will be the first time we have produced a community program around a golf tournament. It’ll be great to see the interaction between the golfers on the course while also showcasing four strong community partners in a television program,” said Joey Roussy, Manager, Programming and Community Relations, YourTV.

“This is another fantastic example of the camaraderie that exists in this community. We are grateful to be a part of this event, especially during this time, when we all need to pull together,” adds Paul Laperriere, Director of Corporate Services Hands TheFamilyHelpNetwork.ca. “What a great idea to create awareness through community television so everyone can join in on the fun.”
