The Director of Education at the Near North District School Board says the timeline to close Widdifield Secondary School has not changed.

That’s a year.

But Jackie Young says Widdifield students won’t be moved to other schools if buildings aren’t ready to accept them.

She says they will be submitting a business case to the Ministry of Education to obtain funding for programming and student transition requirements, equipment and capital and infrastructure projects.

She says project costs and timelines for consolidation are contingent on funding applications but they will proceed with the needs of the students being their main priority.
