The 2nd public consultation session on the city developing an active transportation master plan was held Wednesday at North Bay City Hall.

Jim Scott is a consultant with Trace Planning and Design.

He says the first session held a few weeks ago asked for people’s thoughts on what needs to be done for the city to build an active transportation network and this session asked for more specifics.

“If you want to run, if you want to walk, it’s talking about a walkability in the city and skate boarding and cycling too. Whatever mobility mode you want to use that gets you moving throughout the city we’re trying to provide the safe routes for that to occur on,” he says.

Scott says both sessions have been well attended as people have taken a personal interest on what’s needed in their own neighborhoods.

“How do they move from their front door to other parts of the city? Are there trail connections that can be made and improved. Are there streets that we can change that can make them safe for them, their children and visitors,” Scott says.
He says the final public consultation will be held in September and it’ll give people another chance for public comment.

Scott says a report on this session should be complete by mid August.
