Relief from the heat and humidity is on the way.

Environment Canada says a heat warning continues for now in the North Bay area with a cold front bringing in a cooler and less humid air mass to the region today (Monday).

With that there’s a risk of showers and strong thunderstorms this afternoon.

In the meantime, we can expect the humidex level to be in the mid-30’s this afternoon.

Officials say the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

They say drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place, if needed.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
