The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority has issued a level one low water advisory, the least severe of a three-tiered system.

Officials say there are some concerns from the public about low water conditions in the watershed as a result of the dry summer.

Cumulative rainfall amounts at the North Bay Airport Gauge from May to July are well below the long term average.

Chippewa Creek and the Lavase River are also below historical norms.

Officials say expectations for more precipitation and relief from the current dry conditions are expected as fall approaches, but the public is advised to reduce their overall water usage.

The public is also advised to cut back on non-essential water use like lawn and garden watering, pool filling and car washing.
