The North Bay Fire Department reports the restricted fire zone for the North Bay area was revoked at midnight by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

Deputy Chief Greg Saunders says that means area municipalities can remove fire restrictions.

He says North Bay, Callander, Nipissing Township, West Nipissing, and Temagami have all removed their municipal fire bans.

The South River-Machar Fire Department says the fire ban has also been lifted there, with campfires being allowed.

They are not issuing permits for burning brush.

Sundridge says enclosed camp fires for cooking and warmth are now allowed.

They say there is still a high risk of fire danger and it is recommended that no unnecessary burning occur.

Back in North Bay, Saunders says a current burning permit is required if residents want to have a fire and they are required to follow the rules that are set out in their burning permit application.

He says those looking for information on fire restrictions in other municipalities should contact their local fire department.

The following open burning fire safety rules must be followed:

1. Burn with a valid permit only
2. Burning must be supervised by an adult
3. Never leave the fire unattended
4. Be respectful of neighbours
5. Burn only clean dry wood
6. Only burn if the wind is less than 15km/hr
7. Be certain to completely extinguish your fire when you are finished
