North Bay City Council has awarded the Seymour Street construction project.

On Tuesday, Teranorth Construction & Engineering Limited won the $6.5 million contract.

Chair of Engineering and Works Councillor Tanya Vrebosch says the cost of the project iright at Seymour and the Bypass is shared 50/50 with the province and work should begin soon.

“Most of the work will be next year. A little bit this year, a lot next year and maybe a little bit in 2020 to tidy things up,” she says.

She says several lanes are being added.

“When it’s all finished motorists will see a southbound dual left turn lane, a westbound dual left turn lane, a dedicated westbound right turn lane and an additional eastbound dual turn lane. Those are the big things being added,” Vrebosch says.

Council also approved an increase to two consulting companies- one receiving $100,000 and the other $$820,000.
