McDonald responds to comments by fellow mayoral candidate

North Bay mayoral candidate Al McDonald has responded to comments made by fellow candidate Gary Gardiner.

Last week, Gardiner said more attention should have been paid to the cost of the renovation of Memorial Gardens and McDonald should have watched the project more closely.

McDonald says Memorial Gardens is a true asset for the community and he finds it disappointing Gardiner has nothing good to say about the city.

He says there were lessons learned as a result of the Gardens project.

McDonald says the bottom line was the city renovated the gardens for a fraction of what’s required in Sudbury for example, extended the life of the building and created a high value asset for the community.

He points out the building was modernized and made better for hockey, figure skating, family skating, and more and let’s not forget the global coverage North Bay received thanks to The Ford World Women’s Curling Championship.
