Officials are gearing up for the CIBC Run For The Cure this weekend.

The event goes Sunday at the waterfront.

This is the 14th annual Run in North Bay and it is one of 56 taking place across Canada.

Over $56,000 was raised locally by nearly 270 participants.

 

A ‘creative summit’ is underway through Sunday at locations around the city.

On top of Thursday night’s “Ignite North Bay” event, there’s an artist talk, super Art Hop, Cultural Resource Lab, songwriting workshop and more.

Local Army Reserve units are holding an open house and job fair on Saturday at the Troy Armoury on Chippewa Street.

Officials say it’s a chance to see what the Algonquin Regiment and 33 Service Battalion do, and to showcase local job opportunities.

The open house goes from 10 am to 2 pm.

 

It’s called Rock for P.L.A.Y.S. and the night of classic rock entertainment goes Saturday night (7:30 pm) at the Capitol Centre.

The Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band Saturday Night Special and Neil Young & friends tribute band Heart of Gold are performing.

The event is a fundraiser for Parents Lending Autistic Youth Support Association.

 

Saturday is Cranberry Day in Callander.

The family-friendly event goes from 10 am to 3pm at the Cranberry Trail.

There will be cranberry picking & treats, a nature hike, horse-drawn wagon rides, kids’ activities, music, vendors, and more.

 

The pumpkin patch officially opens Saturday at Leisure Farms in Sturgeon Falls.

They’re open 9-5 with a variety of activities available.

Prices vary for the different activities, which include wagon rides to roast marshmallows, a corn maze, haunted barn and more.
