City police are investigating after about $15,000 worth of equipment was stolen from a business in the north end of the city.

Police were called on Saturday after a storage unit on the property was entered.

The North Bay Police Forensic identification unit is involved in the investigation.

A 29 year old man is facing charges after a verbal argument turned physical on the weekend.

Police were called early Sunday to a report of two men fighting in the Worthington Street area.

The victim was allegedly punched several times and required medical attention for his injuries.

North Bay Police are warning residents after being contacted about sextortion-type scams.

In both incidents people were being contacted through Facebook.

Police ask web users to be careful who they engage with online and be mindful that actions may be recorded.

They say don’t accept friend requests from people you don’t know on social media.

In a release, police say the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC) has multiple reports of this type of scam.

The CAFC describes this scam as occurring when a victim is lured into an online relationship through social media or pornographic websites. As the relationship builds, a victim is encouraged to use the computer’s camera

and the scammer will coerce the victim to perform a sexual act on camera. The victim is later advised that the event was recorded and to pay a fee or the video will be released.

Should anyone reach out to you and attempt to extort money in the way outlined above, police suggest that you do the following:
– Do not comply with any threat
– Stop all communication with the individual
– Keep all correspondence you have had with the individual including any names, email addresses or any phone number
– Report the incident to police
